HANDSET INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
This is a simple wiring diagram of how to install a StoreCom handset on to the PB0203 circuit board. Just follow this schematic and you will have a cost effective intercom system.
REPLACING MICROPHONE IN HANDSET
To replace the microphone element in a Storecom handset, unscrew the cap off of the transmitter (the end you speak into). Lift the existing transmitter or microphone out. You have an Electret if it is all one round plastic unit with an aluminum cap. If you take the cap off and a small disk falls out into your hand, you have a Carbon transmitter.
Let the transmitter fall out of the handset shell, it will be attached by two wires with spades on them... Take a phillips screw driver and gently loosen the two screws. Do not take them all
of the way out of the plastic! Slide the spades out from under the
screws and remove.
For an Electret transmitter - loosen the two screws and slide the spades under the screws. Tighten the screws down over the spades to make a firm connection. The
color does not matter, put the wires on either terminal.
For a Carbon transmitter - take the plastic cup and loosen the two screws - slide the spades under the screws. Tighten the screws down over the spades to make a firm connection. The color does not matter, put the wires on either terminal.
For both transmitters insert the “U” shaped plastic finger into the handset shell making sure that the handset cord is caught by the “U” shaped plastic finger, preventing the cord from slipping out.
For an armor cord slide the “U” shaped plastic finger over the end of the armor cord where there is an indentation in the steel, this will hold the cord firmly.
Slide the transmitter back into the handset shell - for the Electret you will have only that one piece. For the Carbon transmitter - place the plastic cup into the handset shell and then place the carbon disk top side down into the screw on cap that you removed. Gently turn this over and place on the cup and then screw down the cap
